Astronaut Jones is an electronic-based live performance and production outfit based in Washington, DC and Baltimore.

It began in Summer 2013 as a collaboration between Max Kuzmyak and Satya Thallam. In demand sidemen for various funk, soul, prog and jazz groups in the Washington, DC area for years, they had been tossing around the idea of a new project building on electronic pioneers Bonobo, Zero 7, and local faves Thievery Corporation. This new project would need to exploit their love of classic R&B and mix it with modern electronic environments. Above all else, it would emphasize live performance and exploit the founders' facility with various instruments.

Soon after the release of their initial EP "Midground," Astronaut Jones was enlisted to compose an original score for Tragedy Plus Time Productions' award-winning short film "Retirement." They recently completed an original score for "Dog by Dog," a feature-length documentary from 5414 Productions, due out Fall 2014.

Astronaut Jones is currently at work on their second EP "Foreground," due out later this year, and can be seen performing at venues throughout the area.
